IRM Construction Progress at the Former Hempstead Manufactured Gas Plant Week Ending 12/12/08

Bluestone ground cover has been installed

National Grid’s contractor (Entact Environmental Services) completed the removal of the temporary enclosure and placed bluestone ground cover on the site.

Project demobilization continued and construction equipment is being removed from the site.

Offsite and onsite drilling and sampling activities continued. This work is being performed to support the design of remedies for offsite contaminated groundwater and for deeper tar impacted soils.

Two Week Outlook:

Crushed stone fill will be placed at ground surface and erosion and sedimentation controls from this phase of the remediation project will be removed. Contractor owned construction equipment and supplies will be removed from the site.

Offsite and onsite drilling and sampling activities will continue.
